HIV is a chronic disease that is treatable, thanks to modern medicine. If an individual is monitored closely by a physician and takes the needed medication, life expectancy of HIV individuals is no different from someone without HIV. An HIV + patient can also continue to become a parent utilizing IVF.

- The HIV-positive intended parent who wants to use his sperm for cultivation must follow drug treatment and be medically monitored.
- No virus can be detectable in the bloodstream for 6 months.
- No other sexually transmitted diseases can be present.
